Yelena is an associate in the firm’s Environmental practice group, concentrating her practice on environmental litigation and regulatory matters.She represents clients pursuing and defending complex environmental matters related to the cleanup of contaminated properties, cost and liability allocations, and in cost recovery actions brought on behalf of the government and private parties. She represents clients’ interests as members of potentially responsible party (PRP) groups at complex remediation sites. Yelena also assists clients with compliance matters and enforcement actions throughout the country, related to federal and state statutes, such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Clean Water Act, and the New York Navigation Law.
Prior to joining Bressler, Yelena was an associate at two national law firms representing clients from the healthcare industry in professional malpractice and commercial matters. She has a broad litigation background, having also defended matters involving product liability, premises liability, and insurance coverage issues in both state and federal court. Yelena has extensive experience in all phases of litigation, including motion practice and trial preparation; drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and responses; and managing document reviews and productions. She has argued dispositive and discovery motions, negotiated settlements, and represented clients’ interests at hearings. Yelena’s litigation background and regulatory compliance know-how brands her an especially effective advocate for organizations operating in highly regulated industries.
Yelena graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law with a Concentration in Health Law. Following graduation she served as a law clerk in the Middlesex County Superior Court, Law Division, under the Hon. Jessica R. Mayer, J.S.C. (Multi-County Litigation assignment).
