NJICLE Family Law for Paralegals & New Attorneys: A 2015 Update

Bressler Principal Angela Scafuri will speak at the New Jersey Institute For Continuing Legal Education’s (NJICLE’s) seminar, 'Family Law for Paralegals & New Attorneys: a 2015 Update' on August 5 at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. The program is presented in cooperation with the NJSBA Paralegal Committee and Family Law Section.

 

Angela, along with the other panelists will discuss how to effectively handle the most common areas of a family law practice, including:

  • Update on alimony reform
  • The role of the paralegal in the law office: phone calls, screening, relationship to attorneys, clients and other office staff; ethical considerations
  • Case information statement: what has to be in it, what doesn’t; ethical issues in preparation
  • The role of the paralegal in preparing for ESPs and early settlement conferences

This program is specifically designed for paralegals, legal assistants and new attorneys who handle family law matters. It will focus on the technical requirements, skills and techniques they need to have in order to provide meaningful support in a family law practice.
